Vasileios grew up in Pikermi, a small mountainous suburb of Athens, Greece. He moved to the US at the age of 17 and received his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from the University of Texas at Dallas. There, he worked as an undergraduate researcher for Dr. Leonidas Bleris, where he employed genome engineered cells to characterize sources of gene expression noise along the central dogma. As our laboratory technologist, Vasileios aims to use CRISPR-based technologies on iPSCs to create unique models for our studies and streamline the quality control for our edited cell lines. In his free time Vasileios loves to cook for friends and the outdoors; hiking and flying kites.
The lab is superbly located in the downtown Chicago area, a few minutes away from Lake Michigan,
the shopping and restaurants of Magnificent Mile, within the historical Montgomery Ward Memorial Building.
