Jake was born in North Carolina and grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago. Following his completion of a Bachelor of Science degree at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, Jake worked at The University of Chicago as a Research Technician working on retinal ischemia and degeneration. Jake then completed a PhD in neurobiology at the University of Pittsburgh, where his work focused on RNA-binding protein aggregation in neurodegenerative disorders like ALS/FTD. Jake joined the Kiskinis Lab at Northwestern University in July of 2020, where his project centers on the role of nuclear envelope remodeling in motor neuron physiology and disease. Outside the lab, Jake enjoys spending time outdoors and going to the beach with his dog Addie.
