Kevin Smith was raised in Griffith, Indiana and is very enthusiastic about going to college in the city. He is currently a third-year undergraduate double-majoring in biology and chemistry. Since joining the lab, Kevin works closely with Kostas, investigating the relationship between the neurodegenerative disease ALS and the misfolded SOD1 protein, which alters the cellular proteome in motor neurons. To accomplish this, he does both microscopy and data analysis with Excel. While he enjoys working in the lab, he also enjoys working his other job as a Production Supervisor at Norris University Center. In his free time, he likes to be with friends, watch new Netflix shows, try different restaurants, and study various topics like linguistics, foreign languages, sociology, and religion. Also, he likes piña coladas and getting caught in the rain.
