Evan was raised in the north suburbs of Chicago. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience & Genetics from Northwestern University in 2019. As an undergrad and after graduating, Evan worked in the lab of Prof. Marco Gallio, where he studied the thermosensory system in Drosophila and its effects on circadian behavior. He then joined the MD/PhD program at Feinberg, where his initial experiences as a medical student led to an interest in neurodegeneration, and in using iPSCs to model human disease. In his graduate studies, Evan works jointly in the labs of Dr. Evangelos Kiskinis & Dr. Nav Chandel to study mitochondrial metabolism in motor neurons derived from ALS patients. When outside of lab, he enjoys playing board games, watching sci-fi movies, playing racquet sports and exploring the city.
