Andrew was born in Chicago, Illinois. He received his Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at The Ohio State University in 2017. After graduating, he began his Post-Baccalaureate training in the laboratory of Dr. John Kessler at Northwestern University. There, his research focused on the role of dysfunctional interactions between cerebral vascular endothelial cells and astrocytes in the context of the microvessel disease CARASIL. His experiences with cell culture grew his interest in using iPSCs as a model to study neurodegenerative diseases. During his graduate studies, he would like to elucidate the mechanisms of degeneration in the ALS/FTD mutation C9orf72 using iPSC models. Outside of lab, Andrew enjoys reading, cooking, going to the beach, and trying new foods.
