Haley grew up in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Pittsburgh earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology. While at Pitt, she worked in Dr. Neil Hukriede’s lab studying acute kidney injury (AKI) in zebrafish models. Her research focused on phenotypic screening of histone deacetylase inhibitors to identify a therapeutic model for AKI. Now at Northwestern, she is learning how the stem cell model facilitates understanding of neurodegeneration and human diseases. She works closely with Alberto and Beth to understand the implications of ALS on neuronal morphology and cellular biology. Outside of the lab, Haley enjoys reading, cycling, spending her time outdoors, and exploring Chicago with her sister.
The lab is superbly located in the downtown Chicago area, a few minutes away from Lake Michigan,
the shopping and restaurants of Magnificent Mile, within the historical Montgomery Ward Memorial Building.
